We are incredibly proud and excited to announce that Imperfect has officially donated over 1,000,000 pounds of produce! That’s equivalent to 848,417 meals for people in need. This is a huge accomplishment and we owe it all to our fantastic community. Your support has enabled us to grow, work with more farms, recover more produce, and turn our mission of making fresh produce accessible to everyone into a reality. It’s also been a massive group effort on the part of the Imperfect team, warehouse staff, donation partners, and volunteers. Three cheers for all of you!

We also want to thank our new partners this quarter, Second Helpings in Indianapolis, San Antonio Food Bank, and Feeding San Diego. They are all doing fantastic work to build a better, more equitable food system and we encourage you to look into volunteer opportunities at any one of them if you live in the area.

While we’re humbled by this number, this milestone doesn’t truly belong to us. It belongs to the amazing nonprofits and food banks out there cooking up positive change in our food system. We’re happy to have nourished their progress and we salute their never-ending care and generosity. Here’s what fresh produce, your support, and our collective generosity means to them, in their words:

“Without your support our pantry would not be flourishing as it is. Without your donations each Monday, our neighborhood clients would not get the fresh fruits and vegetables that are needed for their overall health”

-Linda Smith, POB Food Pantry, Portland

“Before Imperfect, there were no large produce donations for us. There were no farmers or companies trying to give us produce. None. It was what we got from Greater Chicago Food Depository or nothing at all. Thanks to Imperfect, we’ve gotten more produce than ever before for our clients.”

-Amanda Grant, Westchester Food Pantry, Chicago

“The produce we receive from Imperfect is used in our free community meals. Imperfect has empowered Fight2Feed to add more fresh fruits and vegetables into our model.”

-Jiwon McCartney, Fight2Feed, Chicago

“L.A. Kitchen provides healthy meals and snacks to over 3,000 people on a weekly basis. The produce donated by Imperfect Produce enables us to provide healthy meals to over 30 different nonprofit organizations, after-school programs and homeless shelters. Thanks to the consistent food donations from Imperfect, we've been able to drastically increase the number of meals we distribute to the community. In fact, one could say that we've doubled our meals in quantity and quality.”

-Michela Ruiz, L.A Kitchen, Los Angeles

“With the weekly donations from Imperfect we are able to add lots of fresh vegetables to the 4,000 meals that we prepare each day. It is fantastic to be able to prepare food and cook with such amazing fresh produce!”

-Nora Spitznogle, Second Helpings, Indianapolis

Thank you for helping us make this happen. Your support is the reason why we’ve been able to scale our giving to this point and we’re excited to take it to the next level. To see a full list of the nonprofits that we work with, head to our website. We invite you to join us in supporting them by volunteering or with a financial donation. Together, we can make an even bigger impact. Here’s to 1,000,000 more pounds!
